Cells New Information



I learned that the first to describe cells was Robert Hooke. One of the three parts of the cell theory are that all of the cells come from cells that already exist. You would divide the surface area of the cell by the volume of the cell to get the surface area-to-volume ratio. All cells have organelles, cell membranes, DNA, and cytoplasm. Eukaryotes are ten times larger than prokaryotes.
A cell wall provides support to the cell. The cell walls of fungi are made of chitin, which is a complex sugar. The cell membrane contains three types of cells, which are phospholipids, proteins, and lipids. One function of the cytoskeleton is that it helps only some cells move. The nucleolus is a dark area of the nucleus that contains materials and makes ribosomes. One form of the endoplasmic reticulum is the smooth endoplasmic reticulum. Another form of the endoplasmic reticulum is the rough endoplasmic reticulum. The mitochondria breaks down sugar to make energy. The process that happens in a chloroplast is photosynthesis. The golgi complex delivers and packages proteins. A vesicle is a bubble that forms from the Golgi complex’s membrane. Lysosomes hold digestive enzymes.

If you are multicellular it means you have multiple cells. Most of the organisms with multiple cells are small. Tissues are groups of cells perform a specific job by working together. An organ is a structure that is made of two or more functions to perform a specific function by working together. An organ system is a group of organs that perform a particular function by working together. An organism is something that can perform life processes by itself. The lung structure is a sac that is large and spongy.
